289. Haphazard

This blue heron got off to a haphazard start, but soon he was gracefully flying!

I will be out of touch until next Tuesday, heading to Estes Park, CO with no access to any computers – by choice, LOL….Have a great weekend everyone! 🙂

He’s beautiful! Awesome shot! I’ve seen them take off and they do look kind of funny, but they soon fly beautifully. Have a great weekend trip!!

  3. Nice still action shot! We vacationed in Estes Park in June and it was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen! Take lots of pictures and enjoy yourself!

  4. Take a tip from the bird, make sure your landing gear is down in case of emergency! Enjoy the trip and the techno break!

  5. They are fun to watch. Driving in our gate today, two flew up in front of the car and for a second I was eye-to-eye with one! Really nice photo. Have fun in CO.!!

  6. Have a GREAT trip! I’m jealous! Photograph some Aspens for me!

This photo is awesome – love the position of the wings!!

  7. Nice catch here! Have fun this weekend.

  8. They are ungainly taking off, this is a wonderful shot. Have a fine trip with tons of photo ops.

  9. WOW! To me, great blue herons are practially mythic birds. To have captured one in flight–incredible!

  10. Beautiful capture Tammy. As Ellen said, for birds that fly so gracefully they sure look awkward taking off.

  11. Excellent shot. Have fun being unconnected. I did it for 3 days in Maine.

  12. Nice catch.

  13. Stunning – love it when they spread their wings!
